Play Pals
Play Pals is an inclusive preschool program housed in the Speech and Hearing Center at The University of Alabama. Children with and without autism, ages 3-5, participate in Play Pals. The program is designed to build social engagement, communication, and learner readiness for children with autism and typically developing children.
Using the SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support) Model as a framework, Play Pals emphasizes social communication, play, sensory activities, and pre-academic skills in a collaborative preschool environment where children with autism are fully integrated with typically developing children.
